Ed Brune Middle School

The Ed Brune Middle School serves students in grades 6 - 8.  The middle school building is located at the beautiful Big Springs Ranch for Children near Leakey, Texas, on the banks of the Frio River.  The School houses a computer lab, a well equipped home economics room, and eight large classrooms.  The attractive two-story library offers availability to a variety of literature, research, and periodical resources as well as comfortable study areas.  The vocational shop complex is well equipped to teach students woodwork, metalwork and auto mechanics.  The barn and equestrian center support a variety of agricultural classes as well as training in horsemanship.  Big Springs Ranch is a working cattle ranch.  The Ed Brune Sports Center is the home of the Hawks -- the school basketball team.  The gym includes a weight room and a cardiovascular room for physical education.

Class sizes have been designed to stay small, most under 10 students, so that each student can receive individual assessment and an education plan taught by highly qualified teachers certified by the State.  Consulting psychologists and clinical professionals provide insight to the special education teachers to assist in understanding the emotional and learning problems that a student may be experiencing.

Brune Middle School is monitored by the Texas Education Agency and provides all academic requirements to prepare the middles school students for public high school.  The vision of the education program is to provide accelerated learning experiences for each student so that they have the best opportunity possible for future success in career, family, citizenship, and college education.  This is accomplished by combining highly qualified instructors, optimal physical resources, and a deep commitment for each student to succeed.
