The Children's Music Project |
Begun in 1996, The Children's Music Project is an ongoing program in which songwriters and musicians collaborate with abused and orphaned children to compose and record songs derived from the life-stories and writings of the children. As these writings are published, they are made available by request to songwriters. Contact us to request a packet of poems and information to get you started. Or send us a demo if you would like to be considered for a role on the next CD as writer, singer, composer, or musician. Here's how the music project got started . . . In 1996, after 20 years of collecting poetry in the children's arts program, we tried a volume out on a couple of Texas songwriters and BINGO! Inspiration flowed. So we sent out a brochure that said: Attention:
Songwriters and Musicians The next step was to organize for production. Youth Ranch Music is a publishing company formed in 1996. Youth Ranch Records followed close behind. By spring, 1997, we turned our attention to what really inspired us. We knew that 20 years of children's poetry had produced some very moving lyrics. The songs that derived from them proved to be just as powerful. Thanks to the labors of recording engineer, Tony Young, and a host of Texas' finest songwriters and musicians, we were able to create a product of remarkable quality, a beautiful rendering in music of the journeys of these courageous children. Broken Wings Can Fly is a tribute to all who participated, and the hauntingly beautiful songs have received acclaim nationally. In 2007, a second album, Heart Like a Flower, was completed, and once again, the songs are hauntingly beautiful. As the music spreads its message of faith and redemption, The Children's Music Project has proved to be a solid prescription for artistic success. A third CD is now in pre-production, and a fourth is planned. We are eager to share the latest poetic material with talented songwriters, composers and musicians to help us bring more poetry to musical life. Call the studio directly at 830-367-6134, write us, or come for a personal tour. You will see for yourself the beauty of our village, our recording facilities, and experience first-hand how the surroundings here inspire the creative process. ~ ~ ~ Broken Wings Can Fly CD |
